A Quiet, Lazy Weekend

This past weekend was relaxing and enjoyable. As a result, I had a little time to really look at the chicks and ducklings, and I realized they’ve really been growing! Our 1 Mille Fleur chick, which we’ve thought was a rooster, then a hen, is now obviously a nice looking rooster. We’ll need to find a hen for him before too long.

I also had some time to plant some things I bought last week. While I was digging, I found this tiny egg. I knew immediately what it was, since I had picked one up a few weeks ago and I immediately hatched in my hand. It belongs to a little lizard called an anole. They live wild here in Florida and I love to see them, as they’re good insect eaters. This egg needs to stay in the dirt and hatch into another good garden helper.

It’s definitely Summer here now, the temperature is in the upper 90’s every day and the humidity is high. I try to get the dogs out for exercise in the early morning and late evening, when it’s much cooler. Still, the heat can make you feel very tired, especially if you don’t drink lots of fluids and keep hydrated!

A short run around the yard and it’s off to bed.
