What’s Been Going On? A Lot!

If you’ve been stopping by now and then, I want to say thank you! I’ve been doing so many things and neglecting this blog. The main way I’ve been spending my time is by finally finishing a children’s story I started over 10 years ago! The title, as of now, is Dinosaur Gardens. I’ll be posting cover art very soon, so check back or even better, subscribe. That way you won’t miss anything. I will also be renovating this site so I can post about my writing. In the meantime, I have a photo and a few new videos to share. All the animals are doing well and we have a new addition: my older son’s kitten, Harley!   She was being fed at the local dump by my friend Jan. We’re so happy we were looking for a kitten at the...

A Lot Has Been Going On!

This will be a longer post, but I hope it makes up for the lack of posts lately! First, I haven’t mentioned before that I’m taking Dressage lessons twice a week. Here’s a picture from a recent lesson. Lakota is such a good boy. I used to be afraid of him! Ha ha!     Another horse-related announcement: I have a new project horse! Megamove has been retired from racing. He will be retrained by my riding teacher, Anna Toomey. We’re excited for a new challenge! Isn’t he a beauty?       Now that Fall is officially here, it has cooled down slightly. The animals have been outside more, enjoying themselves. Here’s Shade, trying to hide in the grass.   Monster is always up to something. I really can’t...

A Tale Of A Broken Horn, A Haircut, And An Early Morning Rocket Launch

Warning: Some readers may find parts of this post a bit upsetting! Poor Lexi, last week was a very difficult one for her. I went out in the evening, as usual, to feed the horses and goats and noticed Lexi hadn’t come up to the barn. This was very unusual for her, since she’s always the first one there. After calling and whistling for her, I went looking to see if she was caught on the fence or missing. Suddenly, she came across the field toward the barn, but something was wrong. Then I realized that she was flinging her head around and that one of her horns was flopping as she ran, banging her on the head at times. She was obviously in distress and I tried to get near her to help. Fortunately, she made it to the barn and I was able to catch her and...

Schedule? What Schedule, It’s Summertime!

Of course Summer is more relaxed, less rushed, less busy, right? But it’s also much easier to become distracted, to stay with a schedule, even to get things done. It’s also a great time to learn new things. I signed up for an online Seminar about writing and publishing, so I’m very distracted and off schedule. However, it should soon lead to getting things done! In the meantime, here’s a few photos for you to enjoy. Rain showers and storms are becoming a regular thing again. Typical Florida Summer weather.       It seems the tree frogs are too hot to hide themselves properly. This one’s above the shutter by a window.       The cats get lazy. I threw a cat treat to Monster, but he didn’t notice it...

Nikki And Her Bad Habit

Nikki, my 25 year old, retired, hunter pony, enjoys cribbing on the fence. I’m sure many people think I shouldn’t let her do that, it makes her neck big, I should put a cribbing strap on her, etc. In my opinion, it makes her happy to stand there and do this! She’s retired, she has arthritis, and she had an accident several years ago that caused the right side of her face to droop and her tongue to stick out. She enjoys this habit several times a day and I’m not going to fight with her about it, even if it does pull the boards off the fence sometimes. I’m just happy she’s still with me!         Share...

Animals Playing

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I love to watch animals playing. They really enjoy what they’re doing and are usually oblivious to being watched. It seems to be a lot like watching children play by themselves when they think they’re all alone. You can check out more of my videos on YouTube. My channel is Graybirdmuse. Keywords are My Amusing Animals. I hope you enjoy these videos of my animals playing! Share...
